This looks Cool September 13, 2005 2 out of 36 found this review helpful
I have only known about this for 2 days and it looks awsome! I talked my brother into getting robosapien so we can make them fight like in King Kong
Not the pet I was expecting September 13, 2005 Soujiro Seta ('Frisco in da house, 415) 325 out of 370 found this review helpful
When I first saw video of the Roboraptor online a few months ago I couldn't wait. To my dissapointment, Roboraptor is just a "dumb" remote machine. It has no true Artificial Intelligence, only has four "moods" and cannot do much on it's own. It cannot stand up if he were to fall down. It has trouble walking on most carpets and even some hard floors. For the most part it just walks in place because the foot pads and length of it's gait will not give it enough traction or forward momentum. When you do get it to move at it's fastest speed you can still outwalk it. There is no mute button and the thing can be quite noisy. Some of so called "sensors" on the tail, under the chin and in the mouth are actually buttons that need to be pushed in order to get a response and are not motion activated. In under 1 week my cool "robotic pet" became something just sitting around the house (albeit he is cute). I can say that the quality is excellent. I would gladly have paid up to 1.5 more for something that actually acted more like a robotic pet than a remote control machine.
Raptors are extinct ... Don't try to resurrect them September 9, 2005 Tomcat (Albuquerque, NM) 15 out of 21 found this review helpful
Not much of a toy for the money. It works as advertised, but that isn't much. Roboraptor at best waddles on tile floors, but cannot move on thicker carpeting. His turns are ungainly. After a few minutes the "fun" starts to wear thin. Not something a child (or adult) could play with over and over again. Reviewers say that it is a lot of technology for the money, but it still isn't much. If you want a remote control toy stick with a car or other vehicle. Roboraptor just doesn't do enough and doesn't give you your money's worth. This will not be THE toy to buy for Christmas 2005. If you must buy it, get it locally and save yourself the shipping expense from Amazon, you will return it after a short time; and it is a bear to repack.
