Lodgitech 720 Universal Remote January 6, 2009 Billy G. Noland (Troy, Texas) I really like the 720 remote. And the charging really is not that big of an issue. When you place it on the base a little screen comes on and you know you have it place right. A few notes: when you turn on your equipment make sure you keep the remote pointed towards the devices (aiming is not real important) until them are coming on to give the remote enough time to communicate. When you turn off the devices, do the same thing so everything gets turned off. If something doesn't get turned off then you might need to do it manually since the remote expects all devices to be off when it is told to turn them on. I have yet to find a function on my TV, Surround Sound unit, DVD or Satellite receiver that this remote won't control. I have totally eliminated 4 remotes. I used to have to use at least 3 to get everything turned on. Programming on the PC was very easy. And if something doesn't come on right there is a HELP button on the remote that will step through the changes that need to be made ie, input selection etc. Very nice remote. I am very pleased. I highly recommend this unit. I have a Samsung LN650-52" TV, a Samsung surround system, AKAI DVD, Panasonic VCR, and Direct TV receiver.
Great remote January 6, 2009 C. Allhands (Gilbert, AZ) The Harmony 720 is a great remote. I like the layout and shape of this remote better than the other Harmony remotes such as the One. The screen is bright and crisp. I had the 550 before and this was a nice upgrade. The 6 position screen is better than the 4 position on the 550. The Harmony software takes care of upgrading remotes. It will transfer all of your settings automatically. The only downside, if you can call it that, to this model if that it is rechargeable instead of using regular batteries. You have to get into the habit of throwing it on the charger every few days. It will last about 4-5 days without recharging. It does remind you when it is getting low. If you run into a low charge when you start watching a movie it is only about a 15 minute charge away from being usable for a few hours. Then you just make sure you charge it thoroughly when done. Overall, a great product.
Does what its supposed, but poor quality January 1, 2009 C. Leake (Norfolk, VA) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
First the good, harmony remotes are hands down the easiest to program period. Now the bad, it seems if you don't spend at least $150 dollars on a harmony remote, its not worth the money. I ordered the 720 based on all the good reviews, recieved it in the mail charged it up and it worked fine. The problem I had with this remote is the quality of the workmanship, the remote has an overall feeling of cheapness, the keys did not feel solid when pressing them down and the whole remote creeks everytime a button is pressed. I can not count the times I have dropped my current remote out of bed onto the floor, honestly the 720 would'nt survive one drop in my opinion. The blue backlighting is worthless I was in a near dark room and could barely read the keys even with the charger set to its brightest setting. Verdict, harmony remotes are the easiest to program and are best for one touch controls, but don't waste your money on the lower end harmony remotes, the price to quality ratio is way off, I've owned $10 dollar remotes that were better built.
Logitech Harmony 720 Universal Remote December 28, 2008 Russ L. Stewart 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Even thought the remote works as advertised, I do not like the little buttons. You can also get the thing out of sync if you turn on the device (TV, stereo) using another remote and then try to use this one. All in all I am not very happy with the decision...
One of my best investments December 17, 2008 Eric Fauser (san antonio, texas United States) After several years of switching back and forth through multiple buttons just to turn on my TV, receiver and DVR, I'd had enough. I read several remote control reviews and, for the money, the Logitech Harmony 720 kept appearing at the top. I cannot tell you what a difference this remote has made in the 1 day since I received it. Easy to program and easy to use. It took 3 hours to charge and 10 minutes to program. Not to appear condescending but, unlike the old remote, my wife can use it without frustration. I highly recommend this remote.
