Solid product that works well January 8, 2009 L. Polda This is my first GPS unit and I have been using it for 3 weeks now. So far I find it to be very reliable if a bit quirky. The screen has a very nice resolution and the audio is plenty loud enough to hear even over my stereo. I love the turn by turn directions with street names, distance, direction of turn, etc. Very helpful and very accurate. Also very nice is the 3-D view of highway exit signs/lanes that pops up where applicable. Very helpful in knowing exactly what lane to get into and how to use the exit properly. The screen displays a ton of information, actually, and I like this feature. Others may not, however, as it might seem cluttered and it could be a bit hard to read for some. It warns you if you are speeding but you can control this feature if it bothers you. Text to speech works well but it is time consuming to use as you have to speak after prompts. I have not used it too much but I probably will in the near future. The touch-screen works just fine for me but it has a different sensitivity than I am used to. Once I adjusted the settings a bit and got used to how it wanted input, it was fine and I have no issues with it. Bluetooth works fine but my GPS unit is a bit far from my driving position so people could not hear me too well. Maybe that has to do with this device...I cannot say. It is not a feature I will use too often. A bit less exciting to me was the menu system. It is not that intuitive overall although it is functional for most things. I wish that there was a better way to alter a route once you have begun navigation along that route. Or maybe there is but I have not found it yet. Usually you will tell it where you want it to take you and it will plan the route. You can tell it to avoid or forbid certain types of roads (toll roads, etc.) but I have found that it does not always play nice with the parameters I give it. Nevertheless, it gets me where I want to go. The traffic updates are nice (and free for life) but I am not sure how helpful they will be most of the time. I need to play with the re-route feature someday to see how it decides to avoid traffic that is sees. One other complete oddity...my unit shipped with a soft carry case that was about 1/2" too small to fit the unit. That made little sense but, fortunately, I had also purchased the hard carry case. It does come with a screen protector and I found that out too late...I had already bought a pack of 5 and applied one of them before I even noticed it. Oops. Overall, I really enjoy the product and it works as well as expected. There are quirks but because this is my first GPS, I am not able to evaluate how those quirks stack up versus competing models.
7200 T January 7, 2009 K. Telenga (Bismarck, Nd) This is our first GPS unit and it worked great right out of the box. There are trade-offs no matter what unit you by, this has everything I need. Yes, you do have hold the off button for 8 seconds and it takes about 40 sheets of paper to download the manual at 4 pages per sheet, but there are alot of features for the money.

So far, I have only taken the Navigon 7200T on one long trip - 350 miles from Illinois to Michigan and the same distance for the return. The weather, road conditions, and visibility were so bad that the Navigon may have been a life saver. I especially liked the "Reality View" feature, that displays realistic road signs and lane layouts at the major road transitions. Its voice is loud and clear, and its spoken instructions are accurate. Also, the map seems very accurate - the car's icon is always on the road (not displaced from it), even for minor roads and residential streets. There is a nice provision for adding waypoints to a route, which lets you pick a route, instead of having to use one that the navigator calculates. Routes can be saved and recalled, so you can set one up any time, and recall it when you take the trip. Here are a few things that could be improved: 1. A few times, there were long delays when there was no response to pressed buttons on the screen. If that happens because it is busy, there should be a "busy" indicator on the screen. Otherwise, it seems like it has locked up or gone haywire. 2. The menu system is confusing. For example, on the map screen, there is an "Options" button and a back-arrow icon. Each takes you to a different menu screen, and those screens have different ways of getting back to the map screen. It would be better if pressing the Options button displayed options, and pressing the back arrow returned to the previous screen (if any) or to the map. 3. Black lettering, for street names on the map, would give them more contrast and make them easier to read. 4. The free traffic updates are probably good if you can get them before a trip. On my trip, I think they were only received while driving through Chicago, where it kept saying something like "There is a new notice that affects your route". The problem is that you must press an icon on the screen to display the notices, and then read them. But reading them while driving is dangerous, so it would probably be better if the notices could be spoken.
Great price for a lot of features January 6, 2009 Jason P. Leymeister (New Bern, NC USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a very good product for it's price. It has the same features as some of the $500 + dollar GPS's on the market. The fact that it offers free live traffic updates should be enough to help swade even the tighest of pockets. It is easy enough to use so that even the least tech savy person can use it and with a little time spent playing with this unit you can learn it's more advanced features in only a short time.

It's a nice GPS, but for me, the screen is a little small. I moved it up to the upper part of my windshield to get it closer, but it still seems small. However, I used to have a Lowrance iway500 which was substantially larger, so I got spoiled. Love the free traffic feature which works very well. Also love the 3d buildings and the real life looking street signs. I wish the GPS would go straight to the map mode when starting up, as opposed to having to hit 2 or 3 buttons to get there. Would also be nice if it had a larger range of voices. Overall, quite happy, and nice to have something different than a tom tom or garmin.
