Product Description This fun flashlight lets kids play with their good friend Thomas. Squeeze the handle to turn on his light and hear his whistle go "toot-toot". Roll the wheels to activate "chuggachugga" sounds. When the wheels stop he makes a breaking sound. Includes auto shut off. Requires 2 "C" batteries, included.

Great gift! January 6, 2009 G. Trotter (Oklahoma City, OK USA) This was purchased as a gift for a 2 year old and he loved it! It has a handle that makes it easy for little ones to hold. It also has great train sound effects. Very cute!
frustrating December 7, 2008 anonymous We wanted to get this toy for our older boy but never got around to it. So with our next boy we decided to go for it. We were so excited! We had trouble finding one that worked properly in the stores (there weren't many to choose from-- they must be popular!). When we got it home we realized we somehow picked one that didn't work. I can't remember now if the light didn't work, or wouldn't turn off, or if it wasn't making the sounds. Looking online we realized that it was a very common problem. We took it back and traded for another because we really thought it would be a fun toy. On Christmas morning, the new one didn't work. VERY frustrating, because it's such a cool toy! Both our boys were excited about it even though it didn't quite work. We gave up and just kept it anyway. So fast forward about a year... it's been in storage for a while (I was rotating through our toys). I brought it out and it doesn't work at all-- no lights or sounds. So I put new batteries in it. Now it's working just as good as new. I'm wondering how long that will last? Oh well, my boys are still enjoying it. I just can't figure out why it's so fickle? I really think it's just poorly made. So be prepared if you end up buying this toy-- it's not likely to work for you!
The Thomas Craze Continues October 15, 2008 R. J. Thomas My little boy is a HUGE Thomas fan so, of course, he loved this flashlight and the train sounds it makes!
Ok toy, not a flashlight September 11, 2008 Todd (San Mateo, CA United States) I, the adult around here, like this toy and would give it 4 stars, but my 2 1/2 year old, who loves trains, has never really gotten into it, so I give it 3 stars on his behalf. It makes choo-chooing sounds and steam sounds (I think those are the only sounds) and has rolling wheels. It's also bigger than most Thomas toys - it's about the size of a shoe box for toddlers' shoes. I don't know why they call it a flashlight, though - it's completely worthless as a flashlight. Even my son, who loves flashlights and has a fairly generous definition of what qualifies as a "flashlight" (we have a little strobe light that flashes red lights to wear on after-dark walks, and calls it the "tiny flashlight") never considered it to be a flashlight. For a variety of reasons, it doesn't work as a flashlight - the cover of the light has Thomas's face painted on it, so it casts strange jack-o-lantern like shadows in the middle of the light, the light is very dim and it doesn't have a reflector behind the light, so there's no beam, just very dim, dispersed light. To see anything with it, you pretty much have to be on top of what you're looking at (it's about as effective as a flashlight as your cell phone). Also, as someone else said, the flashlight part breaks easily - even though my son doesn't play with this toy much, the light still broke. That said, kids (other than mine) who don't need a functional flashlight might enjoy it.
A light at bedtime May 17, 2008 J. Manges Just having the flashlight in his crib has added that sometimes needed security for a 2 1/2 year old. The flashlight itself is cute and appears safe to be left in a bed with a child.
