I wish they made these for adults! January 6, 2009 Gabrielle Roberts (Enfield, CT United States) My 20 month old daughter LOVES this "gift from Santa"! She sits on it and turns around just smirking at me the whole time. She plays the music, sometimes hitting the same button over and over again and even dances while spinning around on the toy. I read complaints of the music being too loud...I haven't noticed it at all. Don't get me wrong, it's noisy, but my husband and I both find ourselves "dancing" to the music while she's spinning. I've not found it obtrusive at this point. I'm not sure it's fair to rate this educationally...It's not really supposed to be an "educational" toy. I'm sure she's "learning" cause and effect by spinning in the opposite direction her hands are moving...or that she's hearing music every time she hits the buttons...but it's a fun toy. She uses it daily - sometimes with her legs straight out, sometime with them crossed. It's a blast to watch her.
Even better with the music January 5, 2009 Madalyn's Mommy (Galeton, PA) My daughter received this item for christmas. She would sit on it for a little while, until today when I put the batteries in it. Now she sits and spins on it even more. The songs are annoying, but she seems to like it, so thats all that matters. The sit n spin is holding up very well, considering there are other children that come over and play with it.
Still Fun December 31, 2008 M. Colyer The sit and spins are not as sturdy as they used to be (like many toys) so I did not rate it any higher, but it is still a lot of fun for my 1 and 2.5 year old. The music feature is cool, it is a little loud so we just put a piece of clear packing tape over the speaker to lower the volume.
Fun but only so much December 30, 2008 Adling Clan (Germany) With all the other present options on Christmas, this was the least popular. My five year old and three year old still played with it but other things held their attention longer. When assembling it, my husband and I about had a heart attack. The noise that played once the batteries where in sounded like awful early eighties roller rink music. After the painful flash backs we cut the sound wires and screwed it together. We left the flashing lights working... so the boys would get some reward for their spinning effort. It is great for getting they boys to use their own muscles, so I am still happy with the purchase.
WORST TOY OF CHRISTMAS December 29, 2008 Ryan O (Phiadelphia, PA USA) My wife and I were very excited to get a Sit N Spin for our daughter having so many great memories of the toy from our childhood. THIS IS NOT THE TOY FROM OUR CHILDHOOD!! WARNING! Anyone thinking this toy is AT ALL NEAR the quality of the old toy, THINK AGAIN!! The plastic is incredibly thin (as mentioned in another review), my first thought out of the box was how cheaply the materials were. Three pieces snap together, again seems FLIMSY! The old ones were thick, heavy and STURDY. This feels like a Happy Meal toy. Secondly, the thing prompting this review (My first EVER on a toy), NO ON/OFF SWITCH AT ALL for WORST MUSIC EVER!! As mentioned in another review I tore those batteries out within 25-30 seconds. The music is VERY LOUD, and DOES NOT SWITCH OFF IN ANY WAY, continuously plays for a long time, and will start again any time your hand is basically touching the handle. So the entire time one would be using the toy. This is completely an IDIOTIC design. And makes it one of THE WORST TOYS I have ever purchased. Perhaps without the bateries it will be a semblance of the old toy. But also the base seems to spins amost too quickly and my daughter has almost spun out from steping on it. It's TERRIBLE! Cheap, and NOT WORTH ANY MONEY!
