Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Does your little one want a tricycle, but still can't pedal it yet? This foot rest is a great addition to the Kettler tricycle for toddlers more ambitious than their abilities. Simply secure the footrest onto the pedals and to the cross bar, and you've got a non-pedaling, but easily pushable riding tricycle! The Kettler Footrest is only usable with Kettler Trikes that come with the patented Auto-Freewheel Pedal system. These include: Happy Navigator (KT8838), Happy Air (KT8848), Jumbo (KT8845) and Air Navigator with Pushbar (KT8839). Designed by the talented engineers at Kettler in Germany and made in China.

5 out of 5 stars LOVE IT!!   December 17, 2008
Molly Kaplan (Shaker Hts, OH USA)
Love the entire trike but the foot board makes it add'l more practical. Its been to the zoo and the mall and you dont need to worry about lil feets getting tired of peddling. Or, in our case, our lil one wants to trike but her legs arent long enough yet, LOL. We love it.

Perfect item for the little ones not quite big enough to touch and peddle. We got the Kettler bike for our grandaughter and the accessories. She loves her knew bike. The Kettler accessories have the same quality as the bike. Great.

4 out of 5 stars How to fix the problem   August 21, 2008

The Velcro straps that attach the footrest to the pedals and frame were installed improperly at the factory, making it impossible to secure the footrest tightly to the bike. This could be the reason why other reviewers had serious safety issues with the footrest, which caused the pedals to lock and the bike to stop short. It took me a while to figure this out, and I had to remove the straps and reverse them, which was actually pretty simple once I realized what the problem was. Now the footrest feels very tight and secure. Also, this product is made in China, not in Germany like the trike. This product works very well once you reverse the Velcro straps, otherwise I would have given it 5 stars.

1 out of 5 stars Can be dangerous -- please be careful!   July 30, 2008

PLEASE BE CAREFUL -- we don't want this to happen to anyone else. This product is a great idea, but our poor son was using it and got hurt. Because this footrest is just above the pedals, if a child pushes down with one foot, the bike stops short. I noticed it has also happened to reviewers of the other Kettler footrest listed on Amazon. When this happened to our boy, he was wearing the waist belt, but his head still flew forward into the handle bars. That alone would have hurt him badly, but he also had the bell mounted to he handle bars, and the bell handle went right into his head just above his eye. It missed his eye by only an inch. He was badly hurt, but it would have been far worse if his eye had been poked out. Please don't let this happen to your precious child! We removed the footrest right away and threw it out.

This product allows us to use our Kettler trike before our daughter can reach the pedals. We enjoy using it and would recommend it.
