 Hours of backyard fun! November 7, 2008

Great for 2-5 year old kids. My son and nephew spend hours driving around. When the battery is full it has some REAL power, it goes really fast around the yard in second gear. I like that it has a fast and a slow setting. They love to tote things in the back and drive in circles. They both learned to steer using it and it makes them feel like big guys being able to drive such a tough truck around the yard.

Bought for my son's Christmas present last year he was 3 years old (by 1 month) it was a little much for him but he does love it. took him a while to get the hange of the steering wheel. one thing we oredered it on Amazon and one of the fake headlights was busted we did not put it together until Christmas eve so it was to late to get another sent(Carter never noticed) he still playes with it

Wonderful Ride-on Toy but Needs Added Safety Features September 9, 2008

My son received this from his grandparents for 3rd birthday. My son loves tractors and he has a little brother so the two-seat Gator was a perfect choice over some of the other vehicles out there.
It was the hit of the party. My son jumped right on and started riding. After about a week, he had the hang of putting it in reverse and in high and low. It comes with a screw adjustment so that you can leave it as is and it will go 2.5 mph or take the screw out which give you a second gear and allows it to go 5 mph. We took the screw out because it just gave it more power. Our yard is a little bumpy and the Gator would get stuck in the ruts and spin its tires in low gear but in high gear, it zips right along.
My biggest complaint is that it needs a shut-off switch or a key that can be turned off and taken out. (It has a key but it is not functional but is just for play.) The boys can jump on and take off before we've had a chance to buckle them in and put their helmets on. It's also hard to get them to stop and I usually always end up getting my foot run over getting them out because if their foot is still on the pedal then it will run. I really wish it had a key that you could just reach over and turn it off. We completely unhook the battery now so we know they cannot get on and ride without supervision.
The battery is also not very easy to get to. You must remove a screw and snap the front of the machine off to access the battery. It is recommended that you charge the battery immediately after each use so it would be nice if it was more conveniently located. We bought a 2nd battery so we could have one charged up at all times.
Overall, it is a great, fun toy that has plenty of power but I still think it needs a little more safety devices. It would also be nice if the Gator wouldn't start unless the seatbelts were snapped. We have another machine that works that way and it is a nice safety feature.
We are just keeping a very close eye on our boys to ensure that they are always properly secured and have their helmets on. They love this so much that riding their Gator is their favorite thing to do.

I got this tractor for my VERY ACTIVE son (4yrs old then) almost 2 years ago (Christmas 2006). He has had so much fun driving this. Needless to say he has been very hard on this vehicle and it has held up great. Worth every penny. We are having to buy a new battery, which is ok as I am surprised that the battery has lasted this long. He has also worn the wheels down; but my friends just got a new one with the "off road" wheels and that just viberates down the road as the wheels are so knobby. My son will be 6 in November and he still loves his gator. Just for reference, my son is tall and fits in this great.
