Product Description
It's time to "block" around the clock! Two toys in one, this colorful clock combines shape sorting and learning to tell time. Place the numbered and shaped pieces in their proper place on the face of the clock, then move the hour and minute hands to make telling time fun! Measures 9" x 5".

5 out of 5 stars durable and educational   December 27, 2008

I purchased this for my 5-year-old son for the purpose of teaching him to tell time. He isn't too interested in the time-telling part yet, but I'm sure that will come with time. He likes to take the numbers out and put them back in, but he does already know all of his numbers and shapes, so he's not really learning anything there. The one I have has a pentagon for the 5 and a hexagon for the 6 and there is also a line under the 6 to prevent further confusion between the 6 and the 9. After the number 6, the 7 is an oval, the 8 is an octagon, and the 9 is a trapezoid, as they are in the picture. I really don't see the big deal with the numbers matching a shape with the same number of sides because not all of these have the number of sides of their number. 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8 are the only ones that do. That is really not a big deal to me, though, as it seems to have been for other reviewers. This toy seems well-made and durable and I'm sure it will last a very long time. You just can't compare the quality of wooden toys to plastic ones.

3 out of 5 stars Good product and appropriate for different ages   December 23, 2008

We purchased this toy for our 2 year old. She is too young to get the "clock" part of it, but currently she is enjoying using it as a puzzle and matching the numbers on the puzzle pieces to the numbers on the clock. This toy should grow with her. Nice colors.

4 out of 5 stars Clock Toy   December 15, 2008

We are ardent M&D toy fans for our little guy who is just over 2. He likes it, reinforces the concepts of numbers, although he is too young to get the concept of time yet.

This is a good long term toy, teaches numbers, time, shapes and colors, so good value for the money

3 out of 5 stars it's OK   November 28, 2008

They seem to have fixed the inconsistency with the six-sided "5" and the five-sided "six," but the general quality of this item can be hit and miss. My friend has a set that seems OK, but the set we recieved isn't as well marked -- a couple of the numbers are stamped crookedly, our "2" and "9" are practically off the edge of the piece, some pieces have more paint than others so some pieces with more paint feel smoother and different in quality. On the other hand, some of our friend's set the pieces are not cut as straight (the octagon, for example, seems kind of squashed and the square is a little bit not square), and the face of their clock has chipped paint around the edges of the holes and blobs of paint where some of the chips were "repaired." Yes, they are handcrafted and all that but some of the sets are sloppier than others.

After attempts at being forced into their holes for a few months, some of the pieces are already wearing off paint.

4 out of 5 stars Learning to tell time.   November 10, 2008

The 60 seconds for each minute are missing! Needs to have the 60 seconds marked on the clock with every 5th number (over the large hour numbers)emphasized so children can learn to count by 5's to learn, for example, 10:10. There is room to do this... and would make a good educational better.
