1 out of 5 stars Scary experience   September 11, 2008

My son is 13 months old and figured out how to pound the balls in with the hammer, which does require quite a bit of effort. It's fun for a few minutes, and then he's ready to move on, so I wouldn't really recommend it.

The real reason I wouldn't recommend it is because he was able to fit one of the balls in his mouth and he couldn't get it out. Luckily, we were there and my husband was able to get it out, but it definitely scared him and us and we immediately put the toy away.

5 out of 5 stars Great for CP kids   June 4, 2008

My son has CP and this is one of his favorite toys. We've had it for about a year and he never gets tired of it. He plays with it almost everyday. It's great for CP kids, teaches them to use tools (the hammer) and they can play with one or both hands.

1 out of 5 stars Disappointed   March 4, 2008

I purchased this toy for my grandsons when they were 11 months and 8-1/2 months. Three months later they are still uninterested. The balls are very difficult to push through the holes. Even when I help them, my grandsons are not interested in watching. I suppose, as with most toys, some children will be entertained by it while others are not.

2 out of 5 stars way too hard to pound.   January 22, 2008

This toy requires you to POUND the ball really hard. I'm not sure I want my 1 year old to learn to hit ANYTHING with a hammer that hard. I'm putting it away (it was a gift) for a year and then we'll see. I'm super bummed b/c it looked like it would be so much fun.

4 out of 5 stars Good but not the Greatest   January 4, 2008

We bought this toy because we liked the cause & effect sequence it taught (if you push the ball through the hole you receive a viusl reward). We also liked that the colored balls matched up with the ball openings (Reinforces colors and matching). Our only dissappointment was the hammer. It takes a great deal of force to get the hammer to push the balls through the holes. If your child is sound sensitive (like mine) the hammer is an immediate turn off and becomes more of a stresser . Our remedy: we threw out the hammer and we have our child place both hands over each ball and push down. It's still a bit hard to get the ball to drop down but with assitance our child loves it.
