 Fun, but TOXIC! November 28, 2008

Be warned--I just read on the Illinois Public Interest Research Group's website, that this doll is one of many toys that contain toxic phthalates. Great. We own this doll, along with who knows how many others that contain dangerous chemicals. My youngest daughter is obsessed with baby dolls and I never thought about the fact that I could be handing her something harmful. Like so many parents I feel that I've been deceived, and at the expense of my child. Of course we all get what we pay for, and cheap Chinese toys are often full of poisons...I guess thanks to the media we should know that. It makes me so angry, you'd think the problem would be solved after all the publicity it's gotten, but far from it. From what I read, tougher toy standards are coming, but stricter legislation won't be in place until next February. And the little bottles that came with this baby? My daughter is constantly putting those in her mouth, and I still have no idea if they contain phthalates as well. It makes me feel sick.

I've got this baby doll for my friend's daughter on her 1st birthday. She did like the doll very much. She likes to play with it and repeat every word that the doll's telling.
