Editorial Reviews:

Album Description
Out of the rabbit hole from Wonderland comes 15 NEW tracks from today's MADdest artists. Almost Alice features a unique collection of today's favorite alternative artists and the next round of superstars bubbling up from the underground. This is a companion piece to Danny Elfman's soundtrack score. Modern rock and alternative artists have long been inspired by the classic Alice in Wonderland tale and the cultural impact of Tim Burton. Almost Alice is the musical expression of those influences.

Album Description
2010 release, a 16 song compilation, featuring Alice In Wonderland's end credit track 'Alice (Underground)' written and performed by Avril Lavigne. This album boasts an eclectic array of recording artists with original songs based on some of the most charismatic characters in literary history, such as "In Transit" performed by Mark Hoppus & Pete Wentz. Other artists include The All-American Rejects, Owl City, 3OH!3, Franz Ferdinand, Plain White T's & Wolfmother. There's also an incredible version of "Very Good Advice" performed by The Cure's Robert Smith, which is the only song from Disney's 1951 animated film Alice In Wonderland that appears on the collection.

2 out of 5 stars More like UnAlice   September 9, 2010
Jason Vlietstra (Grand Rapids, MI)
There are only 3-4 songs that even seem to fit the Alice in Wonderland theme lyrically. Huge disappointment. Nightmare Revisted is a better remake for a Tim Burton movie.

Wow, what a great album! OK, yes, I liked Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, and I think that this album is a great companion to it. Each of the tracks is performed by a different artist, giving the album a wonderfully eclectic sound, which really goes along great with the movie!

This album has so many great tracks, I fell in love with it, and I think that you will too! Give it a spin!!

this is an amazing cd, one of the best i will ever, and have ever listened to. with many different songs and artists and types of music, its a good thing to get if you want to try somthing new. some songs are favorites already (the technicolor phase by owl city) and the others will soon become favorites. theres only one song, that i wouldnt give 5 stars (very good advice by robert smith)but its still maybe a 3 star. amazing artists, amazing music, amazing amazing-ness :) good for teens or anyone who loves alice. most of the songs make you think of a particular part of either the books, the disney movie, or the newer movie that came out a few months ago. definately a great investment

5 out of 5 stars great album...   August 9, 2010
A. Vilchis (chicago, il)
My brother gave this album to me as a gift because he knew I had enjoyed Tim Burton's interpretation of Alice. Of course, I took to the album so easily because of the film. There are some songs that are particularly awesome including my top three favorites: Painting Flowers, The Poison, and Always Running Out of Time. As mentioned by other reviewers, the album features a diverse mix of contributors ranging from pop to heavy metal artists so some songs take a little getting used to. What I enjoy the most about the album is that most songs just hint at the association to Alice.

5 out of 5 stars A well crafted gift!   July 10, 2010
William J. Thibault (Sparks NV)
When I saw the clips for Tim Burton's movie, I wasn't impressed. When the sountrack came out, I listened to snippets of the songs and became intrigued, so downloaded it. WOW! The songs are not knock offs made to fit the story, but artists familiar with the work. Robert Smith and Franz Ferdinand's contributions stand out the most to me right now, but as other reviewers have stated, the whole album grows on you, and in a good sort of way. ( Being old, I like the remake of White Rabbit. Owl City is a band I need to explore more. ) I'm more desirious of seeing the movie now, and see how the songs intertwine with the film! Get this! It's great!
