5 out of 5 stars Best available   December 22, 2008

I've checked the labels of all the organic formulas that I could find, and tried several of them. This is the only one that I found that lists organic milk as its #1 ingredient. Do your homework and see for yourself. It also does not contain corn syrup (there is at least one organic formula which lists corn syrup as its #1 ingredient). It does not mix as well as some non-organic formulas, but I'd rather do a little extra heating and shaking to mix rather than have additional chemicals that would make it more soluble. We've used this with my 1 year-old for months and she is thriving.

1 out of 5 stars Caused constipation in our newborn   November 14, 2008
Ken M. Suzuki (Seattle, WA United States)
We began feeding Similac Organic to our newborn soon after birth because that's one of the two products that the hospital offered us. When our infant was five days old and had flushed out the mirconium, we began having problems with hard, dry, infrequent stooling. This progressed to where our baby seemed to be having painful gas and was crying inconsolably. After doing some research and seeing that many people were having this problem, we consulted our pediatrician and switched to Similac Advance. Within a day of the transition, we started seeing more frequent stooling with a healthy consistency. We're happy with Similac Advance and would steer people away from Similac Organic.

4 out of 5 stars Good Formula, Priced lousy   October 14, 2008

I have used this formula for my son since he was one month old to supplement breastmilk. He tolerates it well and has never had any issue with it. It disolves easily and has all the required nutrients. I don't know much about the whole sugar debate going on in other reviews of this product, but I do know it's made from organic milk which has no growth hormones or pesticides. I don't feel like artificial growth hormones are needed in a baby's system, but I am not an over the top greenie, so it's good enough for me. I give it 4 starts because the price is $30 per can if you buy the six cans here, you can get it at the store for $28, but you shouldn't buy it without coupons from similac.com, which you can also buy on an auction site. Similac is coming out with a new can design, so many stores have this formula on closeout in the old can right now for several dollars off, combined with a coupon, and I have been getting it for about $18 per can, which is $12 cheaper than here. I think if you are interested in using this formula, it's worth shopping around for it.

4 out of 5 stars Have you ever tasted breast milk? It's much sweeter than this formula.   October 13, 2008

In response to the reviewer who thinks this formula is evil because "corporate greed" is driving some sort of plan to hook babies on sweeter formula, have you ever tasted breast milk? I have, and it's shockingly sweet - to my taste buds, much sweeter than this formula. Seems to me that if you are trying to make a formula that is most similar to breast milk, then you have to make it sweet. Don't think there's anything greedy or corporate about it - it's just a function of how mother nature made our sweet little babies.
My baby has been drinking both breast milk and this formula since she was about 2 months old, and she's never had digestive problems from it - she's now 6 months. I like that the primary ingredient is organic milk rather than high fructose corn syrup, which was listed first in most of the other powdered formulas I looked at. The only thing I don't like about this formula is that once you mix up a bottle with water, the concotion smells kind of foul. I suspect this might be true for powdered milks generally, but I took off a star because of this unappetizing quality.

5 out of 5 stars I even Import it to China!   October 12, 2008
Sandra Holt (Columbus, OH)
This is a great formula. I was nervous when we switched from breastfeeding to formula, but my daughter never had any problems that normally could be associated with formula. I think the less additives you have, the better. Starting out with Organic means no GMO's, no antibiotics or growth hormones in the milk they used, etc... We moved to China and (thankfully) I order it on Amazon and have my husband carry it back when he goes for a visit to work. The cost is much better on Amazon than anywhere I found when living in the US and having it shipped to my door as a new mom was fantastic ( I also ordered the Seventh Generation diaper and wipes!) Ahhh, the luxuries of home...
