Product Description HERCULES (GOLD COLLECTION)
Not the egregious foul it seemed to be in theaters, Hercules stands up as an entertaining spritzer of an animated feature. The continual peppering of in-jokes and cultural references becomes less irksome on video. That there's no majesty or awe invested in the beloved Greek legends also seems less of an error. Also on the plus side is the bounciest Alan Menken music since Little Shop of Horrors. With Zeus's blood in his veins, young Hercules's amazing strength makes him an outcast (sorry, that still doesn't fly), so he trains with a satyr named Phil to become a hero. Along the way Herc meets Meg, a common mortal who falls hard for him. They're both against the jocular Hades, who has to destroy Hercules to take over Olympus. The hydra is the computer-animated set piece for this little number, a no-chance attempt to beat that wildebeest herd from The Lion King. --Keith Simanton

An Enormous Dissapointment August 28, 2010 R. Speizer (San Francisco, CA) The songs were lame, and the plot really thin.
It is so completely different from the original Greek legend (which makes a great story!) that I found it disturbing.
The best character was Hades.
Cornball just did not seem to work for this one.
You'll sing and you'll laugh July 27, 2010 Carlos Donoso Kronfle (Miami, Florida) Remembering how much I enjoyed this movie throughout the years (and which it will never get old) I am deeply shocked of seeing the negative reviews for this classic film. Greek mythology can be a very complex issue if not explained and detailed right and for Disney to get into all that non-sense would have been a waste of time and paper, and more so if it's a movie intended for kids and family. This is definitely one of my favorite Disney movies and the last one that I can remember enjoying the most. I loved every single character, the story line in the film and also the music.
If you're into heavy Greek mythology, like many 1 star reviewers here have stated, and cannot tolerate for a `kids movie' to be altered to be adapted to Disney style then I suggest for you to watch something completely different, a documentary that portrays accurately everything you're looking for on the Discovery and History channel.
Sure, Hercules is a remake of Superman but it's solid on its own. June 16, 2010 Robert Cardinalli (Portland, OR) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was looking forward to seeing Hercules when it first came out but I remember being disappointed that it was little more than a remake of Superman.
On its own though, Hercules is a fine production with top-notch animation and voicing.
Actually, I think I'm going to pull out Superman and Hercules this weekend and make it a double-feature. It should be interesting.
old school April 15, 2010 Timothy M. Towfeless This was the best movie i watched in a loong time... it brought alot of my old childhood back ... i love the time it was shipped and the way it was handled
Hercules February 14, 2010 Camron Brandenburg (Charleston, Illinois, USA) I love this movie! I also love Ricky Martin talking for the Spanish version! I love his video on this DVD too!
